Kudla Restaurant

City of Mangalore has various names in different dialects. Even when this port city is located on the western coast of Indian, the cuisine here shows an amalgamation of cooking techniques used along the coast starting from Porbandar to Kanyakumari and more so from the coastal town of Vishakapatnam that gives birth to the tradition called Kudla.

This seafood speciality restaurant combines fresh flavours to put together a refines menu that attracts office-goers in the vicinity. While the favours are spot on the pricing too hits the sweet spot by being extremely pocket friendly. You can gorge on a thaali meal here from Monday through Friday and can opt from Live Crab Thaali, Prawns Thaali, Fish Thaali, and Chicken Thaali with touch of Chicken Sukka, Vegetarian Thaali with subjis and paratha and buttermilk which is a Mangalorean Tradition.

THE KUDLA-RELIVING TRADITION

Mangalorean cuisine is known to be spicy and is usually rice based. Unlike other Indian cuisines, this one likes to incorporate fruits as a part of their meal. Ingredients such as fresh coconut and chillies are important ingredients used in this cuisine. As mentioned earlier that the meals here are usually centred around rice, you can expect them to serve them in various forms such as red grain rice sannas (idli fluffed with toddy or east) pan cakes, rice roti, kori roti (a dry crispy, almost wafer-thin rice roti which is served with chicken curry as a delicacy) and neer dosa. Another must try dish here that is a signature in Mangalore is the spicy Kane fry (lady fish).

With the monsoons hitting the shore, the restaurant has put together special dishes such as live crab masala fry, chilly prawns, prawn tawa fry, kane curry (lady fish curry)chicken sukka, uppumunchu dry special items like prawn, chicken, crab, mushroom ghee roast, kundapuri chicken chicken with neer dosa, chicken pulimunch with appams.
